Recent Wedding: The Barn at Crooked River Ranch of Myakka
The wedding cinematography team at Thousand Hills Creations recently had the privilege of filming at a rustic yet elegant venue located in Myakka City, Florida called The Barn at Crooked River Ranch of Myakka. This convenient location is less than an hour away from Sarasota, Bradenton, and Arcadia. It’s situated on fifty acres with a large, charming rustic barn that would appeal to anyone who is looking for a venue that has a rustic feel. The vaulted ceiling with wooden beams lend itself to the rustic feel, yet there is a touch of elegance with the beautiful chandeliers that hang from the ceiling.
We were also honored to have been chosen by the wedding-day couple, Bryant and Marisa, to shoot this lovely wedding. Their wedding was attended by approximately fifty-five guests and the 3,000 square foot barn was more than ample to accommodate them all for dining and dancing, including a space for a DJ and inside bar. In fact, the barn is large enough to accommodate up to 130 guests.
Upon arriving, we felt instantly at home as the owner was very welcoming and accommodating. We had taken a tour prior to the day of the wedding, so we were already well-acquainted with the layout of the property. Everything is organized and the wedding ceremony area and barn are easily accessible to all of the guests.
You couldn’t have asked for a more perfect day for a wedding, but if it had been raining, it would have been completely fine. Since the barn is of considerable size, the couple has the option of getting married inside with the guests seated at the tables. But, since it was a beautiful day, they were married under large mossy oak trees. As with many outside weddings, minimal decorations are needed. The beauty of this venue with the many trees and pastureland was a beautiful backdrop for the perfect wedding-day setting. Jennifer, owner of PBJ Unique Creations, did a beautiful job of decorating at the outdoor wedding site, as well as inside. She kept with the theme of rustic and elegant at all of the place settings. The bridal chambers are upstairs inside of the barn, so when the wedding began, the bride walked out of the barn and then down the aisle. Rob Hurth Photography was the photographer for this wedding. His wedding portfolio is amazing, and Rob and his team were the perfect choice for a photographer. They are pros at capturing the true essence of the wedding day through photography.
The bride and groom had a special request for our cinematography team. They requested that we arrange all of their guests in a heart shape with them in the middle. We were excited and happy to accomodate them as we are always looking for unique and artistic shots to incorporate into our highlight reels. So, immediately following the wedding, we arranged everyone in the heart shape and instructed all of the guests and the bride and groom to look up at the drone. The heart shape was captured in video and then we incorporated this shot into their highlight video. It turned out beautifully, and they were thrilled with the results. We hope to offer this to many more couples in the future as it added a special touch to their highlight video.
As mentioned, the grounds of Crooked River Ranch are spread out over fifty acres, and the pastureland and cattle make a picturesque background for wedding portraits completing the country ambiance. Additional amenities are a lighted brick fire pit area, outside game area, two bars with ice machine, and an assortment of table decorations, such as candelabras and lanterns. They also offer on-site rehearsal, bridal and engagement photography, and event staff to assist with set up and clean up.
