Video Option Addition: Heart-Shaped Aerial Drone Video
Recently, we were asked by one of our couples to video them in the middle of all of their guests gathered around them in a heart shape. They were so excited because they were having a semi-small, intimate gathering of around fifty-five guests, and they wanted a very special memory of all of their loved ones. We have a very talented drone pilot, so we set out to make this happen!
After determining how many guests would be in attendance, we purchased orange flags to mark the heart shape. As you can imagine, there was no way to know how this was going to look from above, so Mark mapped out the dimensions of where the flags should be placed so we could mark out the area. We got to the venue early so we could measure the area and mark it off with the orange flags. With this being the first time we attempted this, we had to improvise and “eye-ball” the area to a certain extent.
Since our photographer, Rob Hurth, was going to shoot all of the family and friends photos at the end of the wedding, we knew we needed to get everyone in position fairly quickly. Rob suggested that we do the aerial drone shot first. So our wedding planner, Jennifer, owner of PBJ Unique Creations, asked the pastor to announce at the end of the wedding that everyone should move over to the designated area to the right of the ceremony area to be instructed on where to stand. This worked beautifully! We quickly instructed everyone on where to stand, and then Jody, our drone pilot, began to work his magic. The bride and groom stood in the center, and all of their guests were positioned to form a heart shape.

And here’s a link showing how this shot was incorporated into the final highlight video creating a lively, unique video. Bryant & Marisa
As you can see, it was a beautiful addition to their highlight video, and they were thrilled with the results, so we are now offering this video as an a la carte addition to any cinematography collection. We are so excited and happy that our couple, Bryant and Marisa, requested the heart-shaped video, and we are always willing to help make each and every couple’s requests a dream come true!
NOTE: Drone coverage is standard in all of our cinematography collections; however, this special request is made available at an additional charge. Please check with your venue to see if they allow drone coverage; we must abide by FAA regulations for licensing purposes. Also, in the event of inclement weather, we may not be able to provide drone coverage of any kind as this is part of FAA regulations. If there is a light shower, we will wait twenty minutes after the rain has passed, and then we can continue with the drone footage.
